2013 is almost over, but before we say goodbye I want to take a look back at the year.
To me, 2013 has been a year of new beginnings. One of the big ones was this blog finally coming to life after living in my mind for a long time. It finally went live in May with this post about a new addition to my bedroom. I still remember that moment when I finally posted a photo and a link on Instagram – talk about butterflies!! And I will never forget the overwealming and sweet response I got. It meant the world to me – just like all the sweet comments and mails I get from readers all over the world still do. So thank you! Without you, my lovely readers, this would not be much fun.
In June my best friend got married. And I got to decorate the party – such a fun and overwhelming task. I blogged about it here, here, here and here.
In July I started packing. Another new beginning was waiting. And a very big one at that. After nine years I decited to move and sold my apartment. August 1st was a big day of goodbyes and hellos.
Because of the move I didn’t have much of a summer holiday – I spendt it all packing, painting, unpacking and getting the new appartment ready. But I did spend one heavenly warm summer weekend soaking up the sun and doing all things summery at the summer house at the end of July.
And then it was back to work! Every inch of the new apartment had a make over including the floors. That’s when I wrote a DIY guide to white oil stained floors. It’s the most popular post to date! I guess Nordic looking floors are in great demand.
The kitchen had a big makeover – and so did the hallway.
In Septmber summer was over and we said hello to autumn. I also shared a favourite recipe.
In October a new thrift find moved in and the sofa got new designer legs.
October also brought a feature of the blog and I in Luxury Magazine – a Korean lifestyle magazine.
As Christmas was starting to approach I shared my inspiration to a Nordic Christmas and design friendly alternatives to an Advent wreath.
Last but not least I was featured in the December issue of Boligmagasinet – a Danish interior magazine.
2013 has been a big year for me. Little did I know, when I wrote this post, that another new big beginning was waiting for me. Just before Christmas I said goodbye to my (beloved) job of four years and all my lovely colleagues. Come January I am starting a new job and I am very excited about it. I can’t think of a better way to kick off the new year and I hope this means, that 2014 will be just as full of beautiful new opportunities, as 2013 was. I am ready!!
As the year comes to a close I want to say thank you. To all the lovely sponsors, who have contributed. To all the people, who inspire me. And most importantly of all – to you who reads my blog, leaves me sweet comments and finds my world inspiring. With all my heart THANK YOU. I can’t wait to share all the new trends of 2014 and all the projects I have lined up with you.
Happy New Year. May it be a joyous one filled with laughter, love, opportunities, new beginnings and good health.
Rikke xx

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your home/s on here – I love your style! We moved into our new home in May and I’ve been totally Inspired by your Nordic / minimal style we’re slowly switching up our style to something similar – although with 3 kids I’m surprised how well our white leather sofa has stayed white! Looking forward to what you have in store for 2014. Best of luck with the new job – Samone x.
Thank you kindly Samone. I am so very happy to hear, you can use the inspiration. Comments like yours make it with all the time and energy I put into this blog. Happy 2014 to you x
