Hello Friday! This new job of mine is keeping me busy at the moment and I am also working behind the scenes on a new project that I will tell you more about soon. It’s been a quiet week here on the blog, but I have many things lined up for you.
I’ve asked some of my favourite bloggers and instagrammers to show us their most valued part of their home. In this month’s episode we are staying right here in Copenhagen. Dorte Bak of By.Bak blog and brand has agreed to show us her favourite corner in her lovely home.
Dorte is 35 years old, lives together with her husband Morten and their 3-year-old twin girls Anna and Freja, manages a full-time job and finds time for her blog and designs on the side – might I say I’m impressed!
Dorte and I found each other on Instagram and first met a year ago when I bought one of her beautiful designs. Our mutual love of pastel colours and beautiful Nordic design has since turned into cups of coffee, inspiring chats about blogging and as late as last week we spent a night exploring Design Trade together.
Here is Dorte:
One of my favorite corners is in our bedroom. In this room I feel totally relaxed – something I don´t feel often throughout the day. I have transformed the window sill into a sanctuary of beauty. I keep my favorite shoes here, my flip mirror from Normann Copenhagen that I LOVE, and an old wooden box from my dad’s garage, which is perfect for my makeup, brushes, hair pins etc. Every morning I bring my morning coffee to this corner to steal five maybe ten minutes to myself getting ready for the day.
This space is very private to me and I often go upstairs to our bedroom if I need to find my balance. I can rest in our livingroom, but not in the same way. I´m always busy with my production of graphic pillows and most nights I stay up till after midnight, although as a mother and wife I do enjoy an early night once in a while with magazines, blogs, or a movie in bed.
One of my favourite things about this corner is the wooden box. It is very special to me. I lost my father 5 years ago and I found the box in his garage. It reminds me of him every morning which I treasure. It did not look very good when I found it, but I washed it and spray painted it on the inside – now it is the best make up box I could wish for.

Thank you Dorte for the tour. What a beautiful story about that wooden box! I love the great feeling of light and air in this room and I have a long time crush on that mirror. I was thrilled to see, that Dorte did not choose the typical sofa corner, when I asked her to show us her favourite corner – although I love all the sofa corners in the series too!
