Upcoming designers to watch – part II

Ro at Formland UPgraded via that nordic feeling
If you follow my blog you know, that I spent a lovely Saturday at Formland UP/graded a few weeks ago meeting and talking to designers and having lunch with a handful of fellow bloggers.

I was impressed with the amount of talent I met and I’ve already written a post about new designers, I am keeping my eye on. There are two more I want to introduce to you – two very promising names in my opinion.

The first one is called Ro. Ro is Danish and it means serenity, calmness and peace of mind. They kind of had me at the name! And from what I saw, the designs live up to the name. Take a look at the beautiful chair in the first photo ^^ I certainly wouldn’t mind, if it moved into my house (Santa, Easter Bunny – are you taking notes?).

Ro was established last summer by Rebecca Uth and Ole Kiel, who used to be chief designer and managing director of Georg Jensen Home. The designs range from furniture to vases and tableware and they use mainly classic materials like glass, wood and metal.

I loved the wooden box with a handle (how handy is that in a kitchen!) and the brass wire basket.

Gejst at Formland UPgraded via that nordic feeling

Gejst is another new venture also born in 2013. What really spoke to me is how the two guys behind the brand Niels Grubak Iversen and Søren Nielsen have made a point out of designing AND making everything in Denmark. Imagine that. Danish design made in Denmark. In this day and age where most brands are made in China or India or the likes, I applaud Gejst for taking a stand and bringing Danish design back to its roots.

Further more the materials also make my heart happy; wood, leather, metal and concrete. Just take a look at this kitchen towels holder – now that would be a welcome addition to my home along with the cutting boards.

They also have a really nice coat rack called Underground inspired by the London tube. Perhaps a nice alternative to the Eames Hang It All?

That is it for now. Tonight I will be back to tell you more about a new collaboration I have lined up – it involves a fab give away so make sure to stop by later and check it out. Happy new week lovelies!

    Mvh Dianna
