Spring is blooming in Copenhagen and Easter will be here soon – two things that make me happy and both worth celebrating. I’ve teamed up with ARCHITECTMADE for an amazing give away open internationally. One lucky winner will get a chance to win a set of the beautiful Duck and Duckling designed by the talented Danish architect Hans Bølling.
The story behind the set is the most charming one. I’m sure you’ve seen the very famous “Wonderful Copenhagen” poster of a Police man holding back traffic to let a family of ducks pass the street? But I bet you didn’t know, that this actually happened on Dronning Louises Bridge in Nørrebro, Copenhagen in 1959 and was caught on camera by a passing photographer. The photo and story hit the papers and everyone was talking about it. The rest, as they say, is history. It inspired Danish artist Viggo Vagnby to paint the world-famous poster and Hans Bølling to create the wooden ducks. Cuteness overload!
As you know, if you are a regular reader, I love classic Danish design. I remember seeing Hans Bølling’s ducks the first time when I was a little girl and I’ve had a soft spot for them ever since. I have a feeling that my little family of ducks will be needing another little sibling sometime in the future.
