What a wonderful weekend it has been! I managed to sneak in quality time with friends over dinner and a party as well as time for sleeping in, lazy hours of coffee and a book in bed and I got a few work projects done – not bad at all if you ask me. Like I wrote yesterday and on Friday, I am trying to find a better balance between work and play.
Balance is actually quite a fitting subject for this post – although I have a different kind of balance in mind. My skin tends to act up this time of year. The changes in weather from freezing cold winter weather with low humidity to milder temperatures some days as Spring is rolling in. This year I even spend a good deal of my winter in Southeast Asia with much warmer temperatures and high humidity. I went to Thailand in the end of November/December, then back to the Danish winter for a month and a half and then travelled around Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia for three weeks. Sunshine, snow and then lots of sunshine. Not good – and I’m paying the price right now with itching legs.
A new collaboration with Eucerin came as a God’s send. They are a research based dermatological skin care brand only sold through pharmacies with more than a 100 years of research behind their products.
They have a series of products made especially for hyper sensitive skin. Hyper sensitive skin reacts a lot like mine does – I have never had a word for it before, but after reading about hyper sensitive skin and using the products for the last two and a half weeks since I came home from holiday I feel rather certain, that is exactly the case for my skin.
Hyper sensitive skin reacts to weather changes, very cold weather, fatty foods (who said Christmas!), spicy foods (well hello Southeast Asia!), stress and lack of sleep (ehm, have you read my last few posts..) – let’s just say, I am the perfect candidate. The first signs are a burning sanitation, itching and redness. It kinda feels like your skin is a size too small for your face – have you ever tried that? If you want to know more about sensitive skin, Eucerin has a lot of info on their webpage.
So I’ve been testing a cleanser, a toner, a face cream and a lip balm for the last two and a half weeks and I am very pleased with the results. I came straight from humid, warm weather with lots and lots of sunshine, to dry, freezing cold winter weather – and I’ve had no reaction whatsoever. I usually would.
As I’ve said before I have a strong opinion about skin care products. I never use or buy anything that contains perfume, parabens, artificial colours, alcohol etc. Eucerin lives up to all that and further more the products don’t contain emulsifiers and preservatives. That’s my kinda skin care brand!
I never leave the house with out lip balm. In fact I always have one in my bag, on in my jacket pocket, one on my desk at home and one on my desk in the office. I cannot live without lip balm, ha! This one is a new favourite, It doubles as a gloss, which I like as I rarely wear lip stick.
Btw I have now been using the Clarisonic Aria/Mia 3 cleansing device (introduced in this post) for 5 months and I am very pleased with the results. My smiling creases around my eyes are much less visible, than they were before and I have become quite addicted to the feeling of ‘clean’ skin – I even bring it with me when I travel.
So a new week is upon us. I will do my best to keep this good feeling from the weekend, go to bed in a decent hour and not bury myself in work. Baby steps, right? I wish you a fab new week too x
