I love sheepskins! That is no surprise to you, if you are a regular reader around here. They are a cherished part of my sofa arrangement most of the year. I love the feel of them and the warmth and coziness they add. My regular sheepskins were up for a replacement so I was thrilled, when Furbazaar got in touch with me.
I’ve usually bought the short-haired kind, but this time I wanted to go for a more rustic and Nordic look. The more fluffy the better, right? So I went for a the long-haired Icelandic sheepskin. It is organic, undyed and 100 % natural – straight after my green, sustainable heart.
Furbazaar is your go-to place to buy beautiful – and more importantly sustainable and organic sheepskins from all over the world. They carry quality skins from Iceland, New Zealand, Austria, Tibet and UK too. They also carry a beautiful range of reindeer, goat and moose hides. Furbazaar has been kind enough to share a discount code exclusively for readers of that nordic feeling – you will find it later in this post.
I went for an Icelandic sheep skin, as they are known for their fine quality due to the rough Icelandic weather. The sheep are born in the wild and roam freely in the Icelandic landscape. The texture of the wool is the result of centuries of adaptation to the harsh Icelandic climate. The long hair protects the sheep’s skin from moisture while the short hair keeps the animal warm. Pretty cleaver, huh!
I care very much about the environment and try to make as suistanble choises as possible. Furbazaar only carries products from certified suppliers. This means, that the suppliers are under strict regulations to take good care of the animals and make sure the furs and skins are produced under sustainable conditions. You can read more about their policy here.
I’ve been blessed with typical old school Copenhagen window sills – they are wide enough to make a perfect spot to sit, preferably with a coffee and a magazine or book. The windows in the living room has the perfect view of the sun rise. It’s a great spot to sit with a coffee and wake up slow this time of year while the sun is rising in the east. The days are getting longer by the day (yay!), so soon the sun will be getting up way before I am (have I mentioned that I’m not a morning person?).
When the skin is not in use in the window sill, it decorates my sofa.
To add a bit of colour and rustic feel to my white and grey bedroom, I also ordered a natural grey sheep skin from Furbazaar’s limited collection. Each skin looks different as this too is 100 % natural, undyed and organic.
