A simple, Nordic dinner setting

I love putting some effort into setting the table when I have people over for dinner. It’s the little things that make a difference. The perfect colour scheme, beautiful flowers and little details like a leaf on the plate, freshly ironed napkins or place cards. The dinnerware itself plays a huge part in the table setting. I prefer a simple, elegant dinner service – it gives the perfect backdrop to serve beautiful arranged dishes on as well as giving me the freedom to play around with colours like the flowers, a tablecloth etc.

Kähler launched a new series of dinnerware this spring called Hammershøi. Hammershøi is the new kid on the block, but the simple design with decorative furrows is blessed with fine historical details in natural, Nordic materials like ceramic, oak and glass and therefore looks and feels like a classic already. The colour scheme is a classic palette of Nordic colours like white, anthracite, sky and marble – with cheeky addition in coral.

Hammershøi caught me eye immediately when Kähler presented their spring news to the press just before I left for Singapore in February. So I was very pleased, when Kähler got in touch and asked me if I would do a styling with the new tableware. Not surprisingly I stuck to the calm palette of white, grey and blue. If you are feeling more frisky than I am, a splash of coral or two would be a fun addition.

This is my way of setting a simple, yet elegant Nordic table for a cozy dinner for four. If you love the new Hammershøi tableware as much as I do, you should definitely come back and check the blog on Wednesday, where I will be launching a give away. Some very lucky reader will get the chance to win a complete set of dinnerware for 4 (!) persons. Isn’t that a fab prize? I told you we would be celebrating the blogs belated second birthday, didn’t I? More details on Wednesday – for now here’s a few more shots of my styling for Kähler. I just love the flat salad bowl and beautiful salad servers in oak.

After dinner coffee and a little something sweet on the side is always a hit!

This tableware is simply beautiful, it has the laid back yet elegant feeling that I love and that is so tipical of nordic design.
I also really like your marble tray a lot, is it a famous brand?

Thank you Chiara – I’m glad you like it. Hammershøi is so elegant. The marble tray was a (lucky) thrift find. Cost me next to nothing :)

Hvor ville det være fantastisk at kunne dække så flot et bord, som dig med det flotte service fra Hammershøj, meget elegant. Lægger et lod i kurven, håber at blive den heldige.
