Winter has arrived in Denmark this weekend; it started snowing yesterday and the temperature dropped. Here in Copenhagen it’s more wet than winter wonderland (boo!), but my parents are actually snowed in today. They live in a little town in a valley and somehow that is always one of the places where we get the most snow. I remember being snowed in as a kid. I love walking through the snow – especially at night. The whole world goes quiet and slowed down and all you hear is the squeaking sounds that the snow makes when you walk. I’m a little jealous of all the snow, but I was supposed to visit them today and my mum has prepared a dinner of my favourite foods, but that isn’t going to happen now. Total bummer! At least I have some extra time to catch up on emails and blog posts, right.
Friday I visited Royal Copenhagen for the press reveal of the Christmas tables, a 52-year standing tradition. It was beautiful and funny and I loved it (like always) – I will write a post and share photos with you in the coming week.
Speaking of Christmas, I spent yesterday working on a few little Christmas projects for the blog. I am so into the Christmas spirit and can’t wait to decorate my house next weekend – bring on December! And snow.
I picked up two hyacinths yesterday. They are a tradition this time of year that goes back to my late beloved grandmother and mum. You know the holiday season is just around the corner, when they start showing up in the shops.
My birthday is coming up in December too (best month of the year, ha!) and people have started to ask me for a wish list. I don’t know why it surprises me every year, but it always feels like I blink sometime in October and then all of a sudden it’s December. So I guess writing a wish list should be on the agenda today too. All of a sudden I can’t think of a single thing I want. What’s on your wish list? Any good ideas I should know about?
