My calendar candle decoration is ready for December 1st. Calendar candles are a popular Danish tradition. We burn a little piece every day of December until Christmas Eve, which is the day we celebrate Christmas. Everyone’s got one! And they some in all kinds of colours, sizes and styles. I’ve always liked the simple ones best – not the big red ones with nisser (the Danish equivalent of Christmas elves) on.
This year I’ve gone for a simple, Nordic look. Nature plays a big part when I decorate for Christmas. And that goes for my calendar candle decoration too. The plate is an old brass one from H&M Home I bought a few years ago, the calendar candle is by Broste Copenhagen and the bears are vintage from Royal Copenhagen. They used to belong to my late and beloved grandparents. To complete the look I’ve used moss and old pieces of wood found in the woods.
If you are looking for more inspiration check out the styling I did for Rosendahl’s Karen Blixen Christmas decorations and my calendar candle from last year along with my guide for different styles of calendar candles.

This is such a nice idea!! I have never heard of it and it´s such a shame that we don´t have it in Italy as well!! I am going to do one my self, thanks!!!

It’s a great way to keep count and count down the days till Christmas :)
So happy you can use the inspiration! You’re very welcome :))
Hvor er ” mormors” Bjørne fine der.
Ja, er de ikke? Jeg synes, det er en skøn måde at blive mindet om to stjerner i himlen <3
I really like that tradition. I remember it from last year and a few weeks back I saw some candles like this and had to buy them :)
I can’t imagine December without it – it’s as Danish as it comes :)
