Attention all Copenhageners. If you love great design, discovering new talent, great food and are looking for inspiration, I have great news for you. Put a big x in your calendar for next weekend, where the next Finderskeepers will be held in Copenhagen – the biggest design market to date. Stay tuned for a chance to win 2 x 2 VIP tickets later in this post.
Finderskeepers is somewhat of an institution in the designer community after running semiannual design markets for the last five years, but always adding a new twist. This year it will be bigger than ever with a new location at the old train depot in the Sydhavnen area of Copenhagen. The building is a sight in itself with amazing light from the big floor-to-ceiling windows, raw concrete walls, old railway tracks in the floor and historic vibe that takes you back to way-back-when. I attented a work event there last year and lost my heart to the place.
I have been to most of the Finderskeepers markets over the last five years and have found many treasures over for both my home and my wardrobe. One of my favourite things is meeting the designers and artists behind the brands – it is so nice talking to the person behind, hearing their story and putting a face to a name.
Weather you are into wall art, jewellery, thing for the little ones, new additions for your wardrobe, ceramics, leather goods or plants, you will find just the thing you didn’t know you needed (plus lots of things you want) – I always do. Over the years I have added a great deal of new posters to my collection from Finderskeepers (you can never have too many posters. Never! Right?). I have bought many of my favourite jewellery from the ever so talented Handcraftedcph at various Finderskeepers markets plus anything from a new shirt to lots of ceramics and pillows for the sofa.
This is also where I bought my first Moebe frame (right hand corner in the picture below) and first met the sweet and talented Katrine from I LOVE MY TYPE, who is now a dear friend of mine. So bring your big wallet – you are going to need it!
New additions this year
One of the things I am looking most forward to this year, is the new Findes Makers addition. A space dedicated to giving the visitors a sneak peek behind the scenes of the design process. A few selected designers will be working from little workshops during the market. Meet designers like Weaver by Night, Madstitch and my favourite jewellery designer Handcraftedcph and check out how they transform different materials into finished products for you to buy.
Also the integrated food market Finders Eaters will be there again this year with a selection of food from around the world. If the weather is good, you will even be able to enjoy lunch out in the sun.
When & where
Saturday & Sunday 16th – 17th of April, from 11 am – 5 pm
At Lokomotivværkstedet, Otto Busses Vej 5A in Sydhavnen, Copenhagen
