How do you decorate a room with a curved TV? Yup, you read right. The TV is actually curved. We’ve all gotten so used to hanging our flat screens on the wall, right? Say goodbye to the wall piece we all love to hate and hate to love.

So how do you decorate with a curved TV? That was the challenge Samsung gave me along with Gitte from Objects&Use and Allan from Bungalow5. I love a good challenge, so I was happy to accept. We had a fun day at the studio together and I am happy to share the result with you. I love how different a styling the three of us came up with. Even if I didn’t know one result from the other I would still know exactly which one, each of us did – our individual style shines clearly through, and I love that.

The styling

I wanted to create a light setting with a Nordic twist and aimed for an autumnal feel (hello cold season!) with darker colours, gorgeous lush velvet pillows and the softest alpaca wool blanket. I used a great mix of oldies and newbies – check the list at the bottom of the post, if you want to know the name and brand of each piece.

It’s all in the curves

I had never seen a curved TV before, so I was curious as to why it is curved and what difference it makes – if any? Samsung wanted me to get a chance to know the TV and test it out for real, so I’ve lend one of these bad boys for a few months. I’ll be the first to admit that as much as I care about every detail in my decor and the furniture I surround myself with, I’ve never given my TV much thought. I don’t really watch much TV – therefore my TV is hidden away and not at the center of the livingroom, as it is in many homes. So I am pretty hard to impress when it comes to electrical devices such as a TV – and I’ve always left the technical details up to the man in my life, because as stereotypical as it sounds, men just seem to care more about this than most women – or at least I – do.

She’s got the looks!

Let’s face it  – a TV is rarely very easy on the eyes. But some more than others though. And I am happy to report, that the curved TV by Samsung falls in the first category. The design is very tight. The frame is minimal and the look is sleek and simple just as I prefer it. Not too much fuss! It’s resting on a simple foot and there are no big flashing logos on it. I love that even the backside of this TV looks nice and complete – gone are the days where the back was Gordian Knot of cords.

The viewing experience

So does the curve make any difference? Yes. I think that it does. You know how your flat screen catches all kinds of reflections? The curve smooths out reflections. Along with a really high-resolution, the viewing experience is amazing. I have never had such a big TV before (and trust me, 55″ is huge!), so it took me a few days to get over, how big it is. But once I got over that, I’ve really enjoyed the bigger – and curved – picture. Movies and TV-shows come much more alive on a bigger screen. That’s one thing I’ll miss once I give it back and go back to my small – but otherwise great – Samsung TV.

If you care about all the technical details, please check this link. I am not going to pretend I know anything about that.
